RIVERHOUNDS CONTINUE TRAINING IN TEXAS, FALL 4-1 TO HOUSTON DYNAMO IN PRESEASON FRIENDLY

 

HOUSTON (February 19) – The Pittsburgh Riverhounds concluded their fourth day of preseason training in Houston on Wednesday afternoon with a scrimmage match against MLS affiliate partner, the Houston Dynamo,  at Houston Sports Park.  The Dynamo beat the Riverhounds 4-1.

 

The friendly was the first game between the Dynamo and Riverhounds after the two clubs formed an affiliate partnership last November for the 2014 season. The Dynamo will loan a minimum of four players to Pittsburgh for the upcoming season.

The Riverhounds lineup included Hunter Gilstrap (Greg Blum 46); Anthony Obodai (Michael Green 46), Andrew Marshall, Sterling Flunder (Nikola Katic 62), Brian Fekete*(Christian Gonzalez* 62); Matthew Dallman (Miro Cabrillo* 62), Rob Vincent, Joseph Ngwenya (Alfonso Montgalvan 46), Kevin Kerr (Paul Dillon* 46); Jhonny Arteaga (Michael Seth 62), Jose Angulo

 

The Dynamo opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a goal from midfielder Tony Cascio. 

 

The Riverhounds answered eight minutes later on a well worked goal. Midfielder Matthew Dallman sent a firm cross from the right flank into the penalty area and Kevin Kerr finished the chance, rising near the penalty spot to head home the equalizing goal.

 

Giles Barnes scored an additional two goals in the 28th and 59th minutes, and Omar Cummings added a final goal in the 79th minute. 

 

Head Coach Justin Evans commented "We've got some work to do defensively. We gave up two easier goals- but we scored a very nice one. Overall, I'm really happy with today's performance." 

 

The Riverhounds will continue their preseason training in Houston throughout the rest of this week including a third scrimmage match vs Houston Baptist College on Saturday February 21 at 11:00 AM CT.
