PITTSBURGH (May 9, 2024) — Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and the Riverhounds Development Academy are thrilled to announce a new tier of teams for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
The third tier teams, known as RDA Prep, are designed to add to the U9-U12 age group and provide younger players with a more flexible schedule while ensuring that players receive the same quality of training and attention to detail as other teams in the RDA program.
RDA Prep will compete in the Ohio River Valley League and will offer teams for both girls and boys. RDA Prep’s comprehensive-yet-flexible training schedule incorporates practices twice a week for the duration of the season. Instead of a year-round training schedule, RDA Prep is exclusive to the fall (August-October) and spring (March-May) seasons. The program will offer players a series of eight games per season against local teams. In addition to the league’s seasonal games, players can expect to participate in a minimum of three tournaments.
Along with the shorter season and less-rigorous schedule in comparison to other programs, RDA Prep teams will come at a lower cost than the more extensive training programs that are offered. Since the season only spans through the fall and spring with fewer weekly practices, RDA Prep teams are a fantastic option for multi-sport athletes to foster their love of soccer.
While RDA Prep has a lower price point and less-demanding schedule, it will offer players the same top-level training as the rest of the RDA’s teams, paired with additional programs for players to hone their skills. RDA Prep’s winter offseason allows players the perfect opportunity to enroll in the RDA’s Winter Technical Training Academy to further their development.
