In games at RMU’s Joe Walton Stadium:
• The 2010 Girls split their two matches on the weekend, beginning with a narrow 1-0 defeat against Ohio Premier. But the team bounced back with a flourish in their conference finale, racking up a season-high six goals in a 6-0 defeat of Kings Hammer. Penelope Walker and Claire Karsman scored two goals apiece in the win, and Charlotte Kline and Joslyn Grillo also had goals in a strong closing to league play.
• The 2011 Girls battled hard but were unable to get a result to close out the season, falling 6-2 to Ohio Premier. Injuries have hurt the team’s depth for some time, and they ran out of gas after being tied 1-1 in the second half. Hadley Frisenda scored from a McKenzie Carpenter cross to tie the game, and Danika Knapp scored from a Gianna Marts corner for the Hounds’ second. The season ended with a 3-0 defeat against Kings Hammer, and much credit goes to the Regional League girls who filled in admirably and to Eva Korney for making her long-awaited return from injury.
